How To Exit a Freeway

1. Plan ahead and merge into the lane closest to your destination exit.
Keep reading the guide signs for your destination exit and remaining distance. You should plan ahead and start moving to the lane closest to your destination exit in advance (at least about two miles in advance of reaching your destination exit).

Never start changing lanes at the very last minute in order to exit.

2. Signal when changing lanes.
Always use your turn signals, so the other drivers know that you are changing lanes and exiting the freeway.

3. Follow the freeway exit’s speed limit.
When you are on the exit ramp, slow down, look for the speed limit signs and reduce your speed to the appropriate speed limit for the exit ramp.

Consider the following about exiting the freeway:

  • On most freeways, the exit ramps are located on the very right lane.
  • On some freeways, the exit ramps are located on the left lane.
  • There are freeway guide signs providing information about each exit ramp’s route number, location, destination’s street name and the distance left to reach each exit ramp.

Bus Driver Drunk Driving with Kids on Board

51-year-old Jane Welch was arrested at the Park Village apartment complex after driving drunk while children were aboard her bus. The authorities were alerted by the bus company to conduct a well-being check on Welch at approximately 7:15 a.m. Subsequently, 25 minutes later, Welch was apprehended on the grounds of her slurred speech, strong odor of alcohol, and her attempt to maintain her balance by grabbing the student’s seat. Bus driver Welch was fired and charged with driving under the influence, negligent operation of a vehicle, and child endangerment while students were on board. The investigation is ongoing.

We’re glad nobody got hurt in that situation. It’s pretty scary that a kid who was being looked after had to go through that. This whole thing shows how important it is to make sure kids have a safe and secure environment, and that they’re taken care of by people who are responsible and they can trust. Even though we’re relieved nothing bad happened, it’s just not okay to put a kid in that kind of situation, especially when they’re supposed to be under someone’s care. We hope this never happens to your child, and the chances are very slim.

Richard Sherman Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

Last month in TV presence Richard Sherman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Washington state law defines DUI as “driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor, cannabis, or any drug,” including having a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or greater or having more than 5 nanograms of active THC per milliliter of blood. It wasn’t clear if allegations against Sherman regarded alcohol, marijuana or another intoxicant. Previously in the summer of 2021, Sherman was arrested on charges of driving under the influence. He crashed his car then proceeded to try to break into his in-law’s home.

According to the 2022 NSDUH, 172.7 million adults ages 18 and older (67.4% in this age group) reported that they drank in the past year. This is a big majority of society, which could in certain times be dangerous. One of those times is driving. Driving under the influence is one of the most simple things to do but the most dangerous. We are glad Richard Sherman wasn’t hurt, but we truly hope he learns from his past mistakes. Drinking is completely acceptable, but driving after isn’t. St. Patrick’s has DUI Arrests Higher Than Most Holidays

The screenshot above shows just a slight fraction of the all the major holidays, and the DUI arrests that come along with them. This chart was made by the Ohio State Highway Patrol to show the OVI(operating a vehicle impaired) arrests from 2023. That year, Saint Patrick’s Day ranked fourth in the number of these cases of any holiday. Then, last year, the number of people caught driving drunk or high on St. Patrick’s Day spiked up even more.

This shows what all can happy in one day when people drive impaired. St. Patricks Day was the only single day holiday and showed a great amount of crashes. Days like these remind us the great impact driving has on our society. If you have recently needed help from a driving school A-1 Driving Schools is here to help!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Green EVERYWHERE, music, dancing, and drinking are aspects of St. Patrick’s Day we cherish, and these traditions have been going on for years. As you’re reading this blog you may not drink today, are planning to drink later, already drank. Either of three are fine, but if you were planning to drink today, have a form of transportation to help you get to places with out running the risk of a DUI. We hope everyone has a great St. Patrick’s day. Stay safe!

– Use high beams when you are 200 feet behind a vehicle and its back lights do not illuminate the road enough for you to see
– Use high beams when you are 500 feet from oncoming traffic and need the high beams to see the road
– Use high beams responsibly and only when necessaryeet from oncoming traffic and need the high beams to see the road. Remember to use high beams responsibly and only when necessary.

How to Drive in a Parking Lot

More than 500 people are killed and 60,000 injured in parking-lot crashes every year. To try and minimize the injuries of you and others, follow these five steps.

1. Slow down

Easing up on your gas pedal is a great way to improve parking-lot safety. It’s a good idea to drive no faster than 5 to 10 mph.

2. Follow the rules

Keep your eyes open and follow traffic signs and pavement markings just as you would on a street. Even more important, follow lanes of traffic where possible and don’t cut diagonally across lots. If you maintain predictable driving patterns, you’re much less likely to hit a pedestrian or another driver.

3. Minimize distractions

It should go without saying: Using your cellphone while driving (or walking!) in a parking lot is an extremely bad idea. Your focus needs to be on your surroundings and not on texts, calls, or any other distractions. Even if you think you can multitask, it only takes a split-second for things to go very wrong.

4. Stay alert when backing out

Nearly 300 deaths and 18,000 injuries are caused each year by drivers who are backing out of driveways and parking lots. If you’re backing up, stay alert for pedestrians and other drivers. If your car is equipped with a backup camera or a rear cross-traffic alert system, take advantage of those tools.

5. Be patient!

This is the most important step! The more calm and patience you can muster, the less likely you are to cause a collision or hit a pedestrian.

What does a Flashing Red Light Mean?

Here are the key points to remember when dealing with a flashing red light:

– Treat it as an intersection with four stop signs.
– Legally, flashing red lights are equivalent to stop signs.
– Come to a complete stop and look out for any vehicles or oncoming traffic.
– Proceed only when it is safe to do so while keeping in mind the right of way rules.
– Flashing red lights may be displayed during the early hours or when there is less traffic on the road.
– Railway crossings also use flashing red lights as signals.
